Ayana McIntosh, M.D. Joins Advanced Pain Medicine Institute

Advanced Pain Medicine Institute Welcomes New Physician

 November 6, 2012 - Advanced Pain Medicine Institute welcomes Ayana McIntosh, M.D. as the newest member of its medical staff.

 Reza Ghorbani, M.D., ABIPP, FIPP, president and medical director of Advanced Pain Medicine Institute, says, “We’re pleased to have someone of Dr. McIntosh’s caliber join our team. Her arrival allows us to continue expanding our services to meet the growing demand for high quality pain management.”

After receiving a B.S. in Biology from Spelman College, Dr. McIntosh earned a medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY and was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Medical Student Research award.

Following medical school, Dr. McIntosh completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.  As a resident, she served as an active member of the Maryland Society of Anesthesiologists (MSA), was selected as a FAER Practice Management Resident Scholar, and a chief resident in Anesthesiology.  She then completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she became skilled in a variety of interventional pain therapies.

 “I’m honored to be a member of a medical specialty that holistically eases suffering and improves the quality of life of those living with pain,” Dr. Mcintosh comments.

Dr. McIntosh has been a leader in her community throughout her professional career and personal life.  She has embraced this new opportunity to serve the medical community and is excited to join the APMI team, where she can provide a multidisciplinary approach to pain management.
