5 Things to Know Today: July 10, 2012

The county planning staff's recommendations for the Chevy Chase Lake sector will be presented to the county planning board next Monday evening.

 

Good morning, Chevy Chase! It's Monday, July 10, and here are five things to know today:

1.) Temperatures will be in the mid-80s, with mostly cloudy skies, a 20 percent chance of rain and a humidity index of 60 percent, Weather.com reported.

2.) Chevy Chase artist and storyteller Ellouise Schoettler returns to the Capital Fringe Festival this month with her one-woman performance Pushing Boundaries: An Era Memoir. Reserve tickets today on the Capital Fringe Festival's website.

3.) The council of the Village of Chevy Chase Section 5 will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Chevy Chase Village  Hall.

4.) The county planning staff's recommendations for the Chevy Chase Lake sector will be presented to the county planning board next Monday evening.

5.) Today in history: Fifty years ago (in 1962), "the United States Patent Office [issued] the Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin a patent for his three-point automobile safety belt 'for use in vehicles, especially road vehicles,' " History.com reported
