5 Things to Know Today: July 16, 2012

Today: County planning department presents Chevy Chase Lake Sector recommendations to the planning board, and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Restaurant Week begins.

 

Good morning, Chevy Chase! It's Monday, July 16, and here are five things to know today:

1.) Temperatures will be in the mid-90s, with isolated thunderstorms, a 30 percent chance of rain and a humidity index of 60 percent, Weather.com reported.

2.) The Montgomery County Planning Board will hold a hearing on the Maryland State Highway Administration's plan to widen Jones Bridge Road at its intersection with Connecticut Avenue for about a half of a mile. The hearing will start around 11 a.m. at the Montgomery-National Capital Park and Planning Commission auditorium (8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring).

3.) The Montgomery County Planning Department will present its recommendations for the development of the Chevy Chase Lake Sector to the planning board at about 5 p.m. at the Montgomery-National Capital Park and Planning Commission auditorium (8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring).

4.) Bethesda-Chevy Chase Restaurant Week starts today and lasts through Sunday, July 22.

5.) Today in history: In 1790 (222 years ago), Congress declared Washington, DC, to be the capital of the United States, History.com reported.
