5 Things to Know Today: June 1, 2012
Great weather is on tap for some exciting events this weekend.

1.) Temperatures will be in the 80s with an 80 percent chance of rain, according to Weather.com. This weekend, temperatures will be in the high 70s, with a 10 percent chance of rain, Weather.com adds.
2.) The speaker at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School's graduation on Monday will be David Simon—journalist, author, producer of HBO’s "The Wire" and a B-CC alumnus. The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. at the DAR Constitution Hall, and will be broadcast on DAR's website.

5.) Today in history: Thirty-two years ago (in 1980), the Cable News Network, better known as CNN, became the world's first 24-hour television news network when it debuted at 6 p.m. EST.
