5 Things to Know Today: Sept. 1
Town of Chevy Chase tree debris pick-up, a Community Relations Committee meeting and more.
Good morning, Chevy Chase! It's Thursday, Sept. 1, and here are five things to know today:
1.) The weather will continue to be nice, with high temperatures in the mid-80s and sunny skies.
2.) Tomorrow, the Town of Chevy Chase’s tree maintenance contractor will collect tree debris along all Town of Chevy Chase streets. Place debris that cannot be disposed of with regular yard trash at the curb by 7 a.m. tomorrow. The contractor will make only one pass through the town.
3.) The Town of Chevy Chase's Community Relations Committee will meet at the Town Hall (4301 Willow Ln.) at 7 p.m. The agenda for the meeting is available on the town's website.
4.) Be sure to check back with Chevy Chase Patch at noon for a video of the Capital Accord Chorus performing "Red Hot" at the Classic Residence last week.
5.) Today in history: One hundred and forty-seven years ago, Union Army General William Tecumseh Sherman began the siege of Atlanta, a critical Confederate hub during the Civil War, shelling civilians and cutting off supply lines.
