Bethesda Art Walk Set For Friday

This month's Art Walk coincides with the opening of "Fair Focus," Gallery B's April exhibition.

Gallery B is holding an opening reception Friday for its April exhibition, which residents can enjoy as part of the monthly Bethesda Art Walk.

“Fair Focus,” which will be on display until April 27, will include “substantive, museum quality contemporary artwork,” according to a statement from the Bethesda Urban Partnership. Some of the artists have also had their work featured at the Smithsonian Institution, the National Museum of African Art and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

One of the featured artists, Maya Freelon Asante, of Baltimore, was recently featured in DC Magazine’s “Best of the City” and the Huffington Post’s “Black Artists: 30 Contemporary Art Makers under 40 You Should Know.” Asante is known for her work with tissue quilts, and she will have tissue ink monoprints on display.

The opening reception will take place Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Gallery B, during the Bethesda Art Walk. Other Art Walk participants include Artworks, Upstairs Art Studios and Waverly Street Gallery. The free Bethesda Circulator has stops near all of the galleries, and it will be running during the walk.

A complete list of participating galleries and artists can be found at the Bethesda Urban Partnership’s website.
