Bethesda Transportation Solutions Launches New BRAC Site
New section of bethesdatransit.org educates residents about how BRAC will affect their commute.
Are you ready for BRAC?
Bethesda Transportation Solutions hopes so.
The group, which operates under the umbrella of the Bethesda Urban Partnership and helps promote alternative transportation, recently launched a new section of its website to help educate residents about the impending merger of Walter Reed Army Medical Center with the National Naval Medical Center.
The merger, part of the federal Base Realignment and Closure process, will mean that the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center will see 2,500 new employees, a doubling of the patient load, 500,000 more visits by military and their families, and all the traffic that goes along, according to the site.
The new site is part of a push by officials to educate residents about the merger and how it will affect their commutes and their lives. It details construction projects in and around NavyMed — some of which are aimed to mitigate BRAC traffic — and offers information about alternative ways to commute to work.
Let us know what you think of the new site.
