For years, Kenwood in Chevy Chase has been a destination for local cherry tree watchers away from the hustle and heat of the Tidal Basin.

The neighborhood's 1,200 Yoshino cherry trees are the same kind that draw tourists each year to Washington, D.C., and each spring, the delicate pink blossoms frame the quiet subdivision's homes and streets.

Patch stopped by Monday to find many of the trees already boasting the blossoms, but a good number of buds held the promise of peak bloom still to come.

We'll be stopping by each day this week to snap photos of the same cherry tree. Then, we'll post a time lapse photo gallery after the season has passed.

Check back each day to watch the tree's transformation during Patch Blossom Watch!
