A burrito chain that originated in Boston will soon open its doors in Bethesda.
Boloco, short for Boston Local Company, will officially open at 4930 Elm Street on Bethesda Row Thursday. But hungry residents were poking their heads in the door Monday evening during the chain's soft opening, taste-testing the "globally inspired" fare.
Boloco serves up more than just your typical burrito. A glance at the menu reveals burritos flaunting flavors from New Orleans, Memphis, India, and Thailand, to name just a few.
The "Tikka Masala" features creamy masala sauce, while the "Bangkok Thai" includes Thai-style peanut sauce, Asian slaw, and cucumbers. The "Buffalo" features spicy buffalo sauce, blue cheese and celery, while the "Memphis BBQ" has sweet barbeque sauce, coleslaw and pinto beans.
For the less adventurous, the "Classic Mexican" has more typical burrito flavors, with tomato salsa, cilantro, and melted cheese.
Tofu and veggie options are available, and the chain will also offer up breakfast burritos and smoothies.
Will you check out Boloco? How do you think the burrito chain will fare on Bethesda Row? Tell us in the comments.

I will definitely try it out. Chipotle is getting old.

I will try it, but it sounds like the menu is like California Tortillas that will also be opening soon in a new spot. But it's a no brainer, cause parking over there is HORRIBLE!

Checked it out last night.
Better than Chipoltle but not as big. I'm sure it's healthier if you're into that kind of thing.

Gastrodiplomacy at its best. I'm sure to try it.
