I am not by any means blaming the victims of these thefts from cars. But please, there are few of us who would leave our homes with windows and doors unlocked. Please, why, must folks continue to leave cars with unlocked doors? Our police forces in the area have begged, time after time, for people to lock car doors and not leave anything of value in plain sight. That just asks thieves to help themselves! Statistics show that someone looking to get into cars will find the unlocked door before taking the time and risking the downright noise of breaking a window. Please, we have to do our parts, as well, to curb these crimes in our neighborhood!

Hi Susan - One thing that is odd is that I have heard from police who have heard that some folks who own the really fancy cars are often advised by their cars' manufacturers to not lock their cars' doors, because (the manufacturers have supposedly said) it costs a lot to repair a busted door on a fancy car. I'm not sure how much validity there is in this, but it's just something I heard. I should probably look into this... (Not for my own Hyundai, but for the sake of reporting...)
