Chevy Chase Lake Sector Plan Meeting Cancelled for Feb. 2

The meeting was originally for visioning presentations from the larger Chevy Chase Lake community.

A meeting to help update the Chevy Chase Lake Sector Plan has been cancelled. The first community meeting on the plan was held in January and is posted online.

The potential changes will “focus on improving the form and function of some of the commercial areas, among other goals, to coincide with the coming of the Purple Line light rail line, according to the Montgomery County Planning Department’s website.

Montgomery County Planning Board project manager Elza Hisel-McCoy said another meeting will be planned. He said the postponement is due partially because the various communities wanted more time to report back to their areas about what they heard at the initial meeting Jan. 10.

At that meeting a community member asked if it was possible to hold the next meeting in Chevy Chase, like at the 4-H Center.

Hisel-McCoy said they area considering options to hold the meeting in Chevy Chase, but the planning department also received positive feedback on the live stream of the first meeting from the department's Silver Spring location.

He said the department is hoping to hold the next meeting this month.
