Original post (Friday, May 25, 2012, 10 a.m.): A Chevy Chase man has been arrested and charged in the murder of Franklin Amobi—also known as rapper Frank Diggy—of Silver Spring, according to The Gazette.
Dennis Mackabee—29 and of the 2800 block of Terrace Drive, Chevy Chase—was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Amobi's killing, according to the Montgomery County Police Department, The Gazette reported.
Franklin Ikechukwu Amobi, 24, was found dead in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, Colesville Patch reported.
The search for a suspect was delayed for four months due to lack of information from the community, Randy Kucsan, lead detective on the case, told Colesville Patch in April.
Police said that Amobi was getting into a car in the parking lot of his apartment house to go to his job at a hauling company on the morning of his death when he was shot in the upper torso. Detectives said that he staggered across the street to a bus stop, where he died of his wounds, Colesville Patch reported.
The shooting may have taken place during a drug deal, according to charging documents reviewed by The Gazette.
