Cue the Jaws theme music in your head as you eye a delightful looking vanilla cupcake. Georgetown Cupcake has created a special baked treat in honor of the Discovery Channel's 25th annual Shark Week.
The Huffington Post reports:
"The cupcakes are made by D.C.'s own Georgetown Cupcake. They come in vanilla and chocolate -- and they're topped by thematically appropriate fondant sharks and disembodied hands. Fifteen percent of the buttercreamed proceeds benefit ocean conservation group Oceana."
The cupcakes can be ordered online through the Discovery Channel's online store. A dozen cupcakes is $39.95 plus shipping.
Want more Shark Week action nearby? Head out to Silver Spring to check out the 84,000-pound, 400-foot inflatable shark, Chompie, sticking out of side of the Discovery Communications Headquarters building. Silver Spring Patch has some great facts about Chompie.
If you cannot wait until Sunday for Shark Week to begin, Silver Spring Patch reports that Discovery is hosting a free advanced showing of Sharkzilla Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Fountain Plaza near Ellsworth Drive.

I'm confused. I thought that the shark cupcakes were in honor of Roger Bernadina.
