Date Announced For Second Annual Jayna Murray 5K Run/Walk
The race in honor of Lululemon murder victim Jayna Murray will take place Nov. 4 in downtown Bethesda.
The second annual Jayna Murray 5K Run/Walk is set for Nov. 4 in downtown Bethesda.
The event is a fundraiser for the Jayna Troxel Murray Foundation, a group that promotes the memory of murder victim Jayna Murray.
Murray, 30, was killed March 11, 2011, in the downtown Bethesda Lululemon store where she worked. Her coworker, Brittany Norwood, was convicted of the murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The Jayna Troxel Murray Foundation, organized by Murray’s family, promotes academics, athletics, travel, fine arts and overall personal improvement – all of which were passions and interests for Murray. The group also provides scholarships for schools and educational programs Murray attended, including the St. Louis University Madrid study abroad program, Semester at Sea, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, and Kamp Kanakuk.
The inaugural Jayna Murray 5K Run/Walk was held in downtown Bethesda in September of 2011. This year, the race is set for 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, beginning at the Arlington Road Giant.
Registration is $40. Online registration closes at midnight Saturday, Nov. 3. Late registration on race day is $45.
