Election Cupcakes Sweeten Debate Season

The election takes a sweet turn at Friendship Heights' cupcake shop, Frosting.

Is the election season getting too tense? Are friendships across party lines starting to sour as Nov. 6 draws near?

Fittingly, a Friendship Heights cupcake shop comes to the rescue, sweetening the otherwise tense season for the Washington, DC, area with special presidential cupcakes.

Patch reader favorite Frosting, A Cupcakery (1 Wisconsin Circle, Chevy Chase, MD) designed special cupcake toppers for the election: red elephant seals and blue donkey seals.

The presidential cupcakes are available via special order through Nov. 7, and the toppers can be added to any cupcake/frosting combination, co-owner Todd Bracken told Patch.

There is no extra cost for the presidential cupcake toppers. Call (301-656-0809) or email the shop 24 hours in advance to place your order. (The minimum order consists of one dozen cupcakes at $29.50 per dozen, but there is no maximum number of cupcakes per order, Bracken said.)

Starting Monday, Oct. 29, the presidential toppers will be available on individual "happy!" (vanilla with chocolate fudge frosting) and "birthday!" (chocolate with vanilla buttercream frosting) cupcakes, priced at $2.75 each, at the shop, Bracken added.

As Bracken and his wife and business partner Michelle Snow Bracken posted on the shop's Facebook page, "we don't take sides here—we just make sweet treats for all sides."
