Rosa Mexicano's Passover Sangria, Tangerine Haroset Help Mark Passover in Chevy Chase
Local restaurants Rosa Mexicano and American City Diner serve up special menus for Passover.
Delicious Passover cuisine awaits diners at two Chevy Chase restaurants this year: Rosa Mexicano and American City Diner.
At Rosa Mexicano (5225 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC), which opened this past winter, "spring and traditional Passover ingredients meet Mexican flavors and influences in offerings like Matzoh-Breaded Chicken Breast and a tropical twist on Haroset made with tangerine, pomegranate and coconut," according to a restaurant press release.
The menu was created for Passover, which starts at sundown Friday, by Jonathan Waxman, the restaurant's culinary advisor. Rosa Mexicano will offer its Passover menu from April 6-13.
Other special menu items for the holiday include "Red Snapper Gefilte Fish; Tecate Pulled Beef Brisket Tacos; Date, Lemon & Piñon Cake with Honey and a special Passover Sangria with Manischewitz© reduction," the press release adds.
In addition to the Passover sangria, Rosa Mexicano will offer the "Lágrima," or "Tear Drop," drink, made with El Jimador Silver Tequila, fresh lime juice and "muddled parsley, topped with 'salt air' and garnished with celery."
At the American City Diner (5532 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC), an ala carte menu will offer matzo brie, matzoball soup, a chopped liver appetizer, gefilte fish, beet borsht and brisket of beef.
