Five Things to Know Today: May 19
It's Thursday, which means it's almost Friday...but before we get to Friday, here are five things to know today, Thursday, May 19.
Good morning, Chevy Chase! Here are five things of interest to Chevy Chase this morning:
1.) Today's weather will be more of the same sort of weather we've been experiencing this week. (No need to belabor those details here, but do note that we should be getting some clearing of the clouds by the weekend.)
2.) Nordstrom Rack opens today at 5333 Wisconsin Ave. In celebration of the opening, the first 1,000 customers will receive a complimentary Nordstrom Rack reusable tote as a gift with their purchase. Arrive extra early and enter an 8:45 a.m. drawing for a $2,000 "Race Through the Rack" shopping spree, in which the lucky winner will have 90 seconds to select up to $2,000 worth of merchandise.
3.) Westland Middle School performs "Alice in Wonderland" tonight at 7 p.m. (The performance will be repeated tomorrow at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.)
4.) Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County will hold a "Building Upon Pride" reception tonight at the home of Town of Somerset Mayor (and Pride Build steering committee member) Jeffrey Slavin, at 5706 Warwick Lane. Tickets are $75; register at the event's website.
5.) Lastly, tomorrow is Bike to Work Day, so if you have a bike and your commute is a bikable one, today's the day to get your bike out, dust it off and check its tires and breaks so that you're ready to ride on Friday!
