Gaithersburg Resident Arrested for Peeping Tom at Westfield Montgomery Store
Guess salesperson Gonzalo Aldofo Quevedo-Garcia charged with one count of peeping tom and one additional charge.
18-year-old Gonzalo Aldofo Quevedo-Garcia of Gaithersburg was charged on December 21 with one count of peeping tom and one count of visual surveillance with prurient intent stemming from an incident earlier in December at the Westfield Montgomery Shopping Mall.
On December 10, a 24-year-old female contacted the police after an interaction with Quevedo-Garcia at the Guess store at Westfield Montgomery. The victim was approached by the suspect, who assisted her in locating pairs of blue jeans and a fitting room to try them on. She was asked several times by Quevedo-Garcia if she needed further assistance, which she declined. The victim then noticed Quevedo-Garcia’s shoes and a cellphone on the floor close to the fitting room door.
The victim believed that Quevedo-Garcia was filming her, and she flung the door open to witness the suspect covering the phone with his foot. After dressing in her own clothing and making a purchase, the victim contacted the police.
Based on their own investigative efforts, officers were able to identify Quevedo-Garcia as the salesperson who assisted the victim, obtain a warrant and arrest him on December 20. Officers also served a search warrant, seizing several laptops and cell phones.
Quevedo-Garcia was released on his own recognizance on December 21, and has a schedule court date of February 7, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.
