Get Out: Ideas for the Weekend

This weekend make chocolate, put on your St. Patrick's Day green or take in the 2012 Israeli Dance Festival.

Looking for something to do in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area? Look no further. Here's this week's Get Out planner for your weekend.

St. Patrick's Day Party at Dance Bethesda

Where/When: Dance Bethesda (8227 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, MD)
Saturday: 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Win prizes for the best green outfit! Enjoy newcomer and intermediate lessons at 8 p.m. before the dance party begins at 9 p.m. Experience dances such as the Tango and Cha Cha, as well as moves inspired by ballroom, swing, and Latin music.

Price: $15 singles, $25 couples.

Chocolate Making 101

Where/When: SPAGnVOLA (360 Main St., Gaithersburg, MD)
Friday: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: Who doesn't wish they knew how to make chocolate? An in-depth factory tour is included in this beginner's course with head chocolatier Crisoire Reid.  You’ll be making Ganache filling and truffles in no time thanks to Reid's chocolate crystallization techniques.

Price: $50

The Living Roots of Music

Where/When: Chevy Chase Library, (8005 Connecticut Ave., Chevy Chase, MD)
Saturday: 4 p.m.

Why Go: Drop in and hear Lauren Pelon of Red Wing, Minn., perform music from around the world. She traces the ancient to modern story of music with her voice, the bone flute, gemshorn, lyre, a modern electronic wind instrument and a pedalboard.

Price: Free.

Laugh Riot at the Hyatt

Where/When: Hyatt Regency Bethesda, (1 Bethesda Metro Ctr, Bethesda, MD)
Saturday: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Who knows who you'll see at this weekly stand-up show. We recommend staying after for the “Everybody’s A Comedian” joke contest, where audience members may jump on stage and tell their best joke. Winners are selected by audience applause, and you could win $25, a t-shirt, two tickets to a future show and a beer. Now that's almost too serious to be funny.

Price: $10

Isreali Dance Festival

Where/When: Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy (13300 Arctic Ave, Rockville, MD)
Sunday: 3 p.m.

Why Go: More than 130 Israeli dancers from all over the world will be included in the 2012 Israeli Dance Festival, in its third year after a 25-year hiatus. Performances will include the Nirkoda Israeli Dancers of Toronto as well as Yanim of Madison, Wisconsin. Visit the website for more information.

Price: Advance tickets are $12 adults, $10 children. At the door they are $15 adults, $10 children.
