"Forces of Nature" at Glen Echo Park

Why Go: The Photoworks Gallery at Glen Echo Park presents "Forces of Nature," an exhibition of black-and-white photography. The show's images record the visual beauty of the forces of nature on the natural and man-made worlds.

Dance Bethesda Concert

Where/When: Round House Theatre (4545 East-West Highway, Bethesda). Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Watch six professional dance companies perform at this year's Dance Bethesda concert: Alexandra May Ballance/Joy of Motion Dance Center's Youth Dance Ensemble, Culture Shock DC, Erica Rebollar/Rebollar Dance, Furia Flamenca, Soul In Motion and Tzveta Kassabova.

Foreign Film: The Lives of Others

Why Go: Take in a political thriller from Germany. In The Lives of Others, East German police bug the apartment of a Socialist playwright to get incriminating evidence against his rival in love, a corrupt government official. The film screening is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Chevy Chase Chapter.

Laugh Riot at the Hyatt

Where/When: Hyatt Regency Bethesda (1 Bethesda Metro Center, Bethesda). Saturday, March 3, from 8 to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy some laughs from three local comics.

Maryland Home and Garden Show

Where/When: Maryland State Fairgrounds (2200 York Rd., Timonium). Saturdays, March 3 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sundays, March 4 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: The Maryland Home and Garden Show, now in its 31st year, blossoms with indoor and outdoor inspiration—including artful landscaping based on literature’s favorite settings. Local gardening pros will dust off their trowels and shovels to create gardens inspired by popular books and novels as part of this year’s "Books in Bloom" theme.
