Handbag Heist Suspects Caught on Video
Three suspects stole $10,000 worth of handbags from the Jimmy Choo store in Chevy Chase, then escaped in a getaway car driven by a fourth suspect.
Three suspects stole $10,000 worth of handbags from the Jimmy Choo store in Chevy Chase at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 9, Montgomery County police reported.
The suspects quickly entered the store in the Chevy Chase Collection (often referred to as the 'Rodeo Drive of the East Coast'), took the handbags and exited 10 to 15 seconds later, getting into a red, four-door sedan—driven by a fourth suspect—waiting outside the store at 5481 Wisconsin Ave., police said.
The suspects escaped, but not without leaving behind a few crumbs of evidence: Three of the four suspects were caught on a surveillance video at a nearby department store shortly before the handbag heist, police added.
Police ask that anyone with information about the theft or the suspects call the Bethesda Investigative Section at 301-657-0112 (or the non-emergency line at 301-279-8000). Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, toll-free, at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), or may leave a tip online.
Crime Solvers increased its cash reward amount (for information that leads to an arrest or indictment) for this incident from up to $1,000 to up to $10,000.
