Four years ago—on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008—the Obama-Biden ticket received 71.6 percent of Montgomery County's votes, according to the Maryland State Board of Elections' website.

That was 314,444 votes. The McCain-Palin ticket, in comparison, got only 118,608 votes from Montgomery County, or 27 percent of the county's votes.

Rep. Christopher Van Hollen (D-Kensington) won his House of Representatives seat four years ago with 218,111 votes (74.4 percent of the county's votes). His Republican challenger, Steve Hudson, received 22.4 percent of the county's votes (65,626 votes).

Across the state, about 430,000 Marylanders voted early in the 2012 election, The Baltimore Sun reported:

Democrats made up two-thirds (66 percent) of the 430,000 early voters, outvoting Republicans 3.2 to 1, compared to their voter registration edge of 2 to 1, according to the State Board of Elections website. Democratic women made up 42 percent of early voters, while they make up a third (33 percent) of total registered voters. Republicans made up 20 percent of early voters, and independent (unaffiliated) voters made up just 11 percent.

Montgomery County, "where new Democratic voters were added to the district, had above average turnout of 12.65" percent, The Sun added.
