Fourth of July in Montgomery County: What's Open, What's Not

Most county operations will be closed on Independence Day.

 

Here's your guide to the Fourth of July in Montgomery County: 

Closed

Montgomery County offices.

Montgomery County libraries, except Wheaton Regional Library and Bethesda Library

TRiPS Commuter stores in Silver Spring and Bethesda.

All county public schools and offices.

State of Maryland offices and courts.

All senior centers. All recreation department classes, including aquatics classes, are cancelled. (Indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities will be opened as scheduled.)

All Montgomery Parks Nature Centers, including Locust Grove Nature Center, Meadowside Nature Center and Brookside Nature Center.

Pauline Betz Addie Tennis Center at Cabin John Regional Park.

Wheaton Ice Arena at Wheaton Regional Park.

Schedule Changes

Ride-On and Metrobus will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Metrorail will operate on a special July 4 schedule.

Public parking garages, lots and curbside meters are free.

County liquor stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The following park facilities will close early:

  • Cabin John Ice Rink at Cabin John Regional Park: Open 6 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Olney Skate Park at Olney Manor Recreational Park: Open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • South Germantown Driving Range at South Germantown Recreational Park: Open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Wheaton Tennis at Wheaton Regional Park: Open 6 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Refuse/Recycling pick-up

No pick-up. Wednesday pick-up will move to Thursday, Thursday pick-up will move to Friday, and Friday pick-up will move to Saturday.
