Murder-Mystery Theater, Pumpkin Festival, Classic Car Show and More near Chevy Chase This Weekend

Looking for some Halloween-themed fun and other things to do this weekend? Check out some of the fun things going on around the county.

 

Mystery Dinner

  • Where: 7711 Eastern Ave., Silver Spring.
  • When: Friday, Oct. 19, and Sat., Oct. 20, at 6 p.m.
  • Description: A murder mystery is performed at the Historic Blair Mansion Inn after dinner is served.
  • Price: $50.

15th Annual Bethesda Row Arts Festival

  • Where: Bethesda Avenue, Woodmont Avenue, Elm Street and 7250 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda.
  • When: Sat., Oct.  20, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun. Oct. 21, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Description: Fine arts festival featuring 180 artists over four blocks.
  • Price: Free.

32nd Annual Butler's Orchard Pumpkin Festival

  • Where: Butler's Orchard, 22200 Davis Mill Rd., Germantown. 
  • When: Sat., Oct. 20, and Sun., Oct. 21, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Description: Pumpkin festival includes hayrides, pony rides, hayloft jumping, food, crafts, animals, live entertainment, straw maze and more.
  • Price: $6.75 - 11.

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

  • Where: The Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Ln., North Bethesda.
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 20, 2 p.m.
  • Description: Musical group performs iconic works with new and unique instruments and comedy.
  • Price: Visit the music center's website for ticket prices.

Urban Haunted House in Rockville, MD

  • Where: 11840 Rockville Pike, Rockville.
  • When: Friday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m.
  • Description: Fully indoor haunted attraction featuring a trip into a zombie apocalypse.
  • Price: $30.

World of Montgomery Festival

  • Where: Wheaton Triangle, 2424 Reedie Dr., ​Wheaton.
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 21, noon - 5 p.m.
  • Description: The festival showcases the county's rich diversity through food, music, dance, visual art and storytelling. An International Village exhibition focuses on the four countries with the largest immigrant populations in Montgomery County: China, El Salvador, Ethiopia and India. Each country's tent features hands-on activities, demonstrations and presentations to promote international and multi-cultural awareness. Other festival highlights include international crafts vendors, a pupusa cook-off, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, a youth-made film festival and crafts and community service projects for kids.
  • Price: Free.

Pineapple Fiesta Quilt Show

  • Where: Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Dr., Building II, Rockville.
  • When: Friday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Description: Quilting show featuring 200-plus quilts. Includes silent auction, merchant mall, boutique and more.
  • Price: $6.

Nightmare Screamplex

  • Where: 18031 Central Park Circle, Boyds.
  • When: Sept. 29 – Nov. 3, 7 – 10 p.m. (Last tickets sold at 10 p.m.)
  • Description: Halloween-themed park with attractions including a paintball shooting range, tarot readings, live magic, bungee run, moon bounce, bonfire and more.
  • Price: Prices differ for various attractions. See website for more information.

    Antique and Classic Car Show

    • Where: Rockville City Center Park, 603 Edmonston Dr., Rockville.
    • When: Saturday, Oct. 20, 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Rain date: Oct. 27.)
    • Description: More than 400 antique and classic cars on display.
    • Price: Free.

      Pumpkin TrolleyFest

      • Where: National Capital Trolley Museum, 1313 Bonifant Rd., Colesville.
      • When: Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21, 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
      • Description: Trolley ride includes a stop at Pinson’s Pumpkin Market where children may exchange a token for a pumpkin. Then, children may decorate their pumpkins to take home.
      • Price: $7.
