O'Malley Using Pinterest to Promote Small Businesses

Winning entrepreneurs will receive a MacBook Air or an iPad.

Gov. Martin O'Malley has taken to Pinterest, the image-friendly social media site, to "highlight Maryland entrepreneurs and small business owners" throughout the state, including Montgomery County.

Nominations can be pitched with 10 images on the governor's Pinterest page. Here is the Maryland Pinterest Business Pitch Contest board.

In a release, O'Malley said Maryland has a rich history of fostering entrepreneurship, including business incubators, institutions of higher learning and tax credits.

Other details of the contest from the release:

Submissions will be showcased on Governor O'Malley's website. Boards and pins will be available for public comment. Following the public comment period, a panel of business experts will choose winners in two different categories: "Student Entrepreneurs" and "Boot Strappers." First place winners will receive a MacBook Air and runner ups will receive an iPad courtesy contest partner the Baltimore Angels.

The Baltimore Angels is a group of investors.
