Residents flocked to grocery stores, restaurants and bakeries in downtown Bethesda Sunday morning in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.

Some businesses were offering hurricane-themed specials -- like the "Hurricane Sandy-wich" at Mussel Bar -- in the final hours before the storm packs a major punch to the region. With losses from extended power outages from June's derecho storm fresh in mind, many businesses were preparing for another financial hit.

"It will effect business, definitely," said Jin Chon, an employee at Bubbles hair salon on Bethesda Row.

Shelves at grocery stores were picked nearly clean of bottled water, toilet paper and C and D batteries. Restaurants, along with residents, are busy preparing for the "Frankenstorm," stacking and removing patio furniture along Bethesda Row.
