The Hanover casino is now the third largest in the country, with 4,750 slot machines.

Maryland Live! at Arundel Mills is now the third largest casino in the United States, based on the number of slot machines.

On Wednesday, the Maryland Lottery and Maryland Live!’s developers unveiled 1,043 new slot machines at the Hanover casino, bringing its total to 4,750 machines.

The two biggest casinos in the nation are both in Connecticut: Foxwoods with 7,000 machines and Mohegan Sun with more than 6,400.

The casino in Anne Arundel County opened June 7. Since then, the entertainment facility has added The Cheesecake Factory restaurant and Rams Head Center Stage

In addition to celebrating the new slot machines, a Sept. 12 media event highlighting completion of the casino's second phase of development featured the grand opening of the main entrance for Maryland Live!—near Modell’s Sporting Goods. Previously, it had been under construction.

Still to come is The Prime Rib, which casino officials said would be open in the next few weeks.

These pictures mirror my experience at this casino. Everyone there with a blank or bored expression. Many mindlessly locked into staring at the screens.

It's kind of depressing.

Oh the media is making this big news. Here is a news story: I live 7 minutes from there and I will never enter MD LIve, and now I don't shop at Staples, Safeway, Micheal's, Best Buy,Pet Smart, Books a million, FYE, either. I drive 15 minutes longer and shop in Ellicott City and Columbia. I like to gamble and will be in Vegas at Monte Carlo for the next 3 days. I just don't like things stuck everywhere with no thought to getting in and out. That is what Arundel Mills has evolved to, and it is only going to get worse. There is no way to make it better unless of course Cornish makes so much money he buys out the Mall, knocks it down and builds an even bigger Casino.
