The Montgomery County Planning Department is hosting a Chevy Chase Lake Sector Plan Community Design Workshop at the Chevy Chase Library March 12.
At the workshop, “the community will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and visions about the future of Chevy Chase Lake,” according to the county planning department’s website on the area.
Residents, businesses, property owners and organizations can sign up to take part in the six one-hour sessions. The sessions start between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In a letter about the design workshop, Montgomery County Planning Board project manager Elza Hisel-McCoy wrote “Each session will accommodate a limited number of participants and pre-registration is required.”

Is there any markers telling about the time when this land was a lake?

I'm not sure if there are any physical signs telling about the time it was a lake. I've walked around the area and don't remember seeing any.
The Town of Chevy Chase and the Chevy Chase Historical Society have information about the area's history here though:
