Residential and Commercial Burglaries, and Thefts from Vehicles

Nine thefts from vehicles were reported in or near Chevy Chase.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between July 23 and 31. The mention of arrests or charges does not indicate a conviction.

  • A commercial burglary occurred at an office building at 2 Wisconsin Circle, Chevy Chase, on Friday, July 27, at approximately 10:30 a.m.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4500 block of Dorset Avenue, Chevy Chase, on Thursday, July 26, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. There was a forced entry, but it is unknown what was taken.
  • Three thefts from vehicles occurred between July 23 and 31 in the D1 beat (which includes much of Chevy Chase Village and parts of Chevy Chase to the east of the village).
  • Six thefts from vehicles occurred between July 23 and 31 in the E1 beat (which includes parts of the Village of Friendship Heights and the Town of Somerset). All but one of the thefts from vehicles occurred at night, with three occurring during the early morning hours of Monday, July 23. The entry methods into the vehicles varied, and loose items left inside the vehicles were taken, including iPhones, iPads and cash.

Visit the website of the Montgomery County Police Department for a map delineating the different beats of the county's second police division (which covers Bethesda and Chevy Chase).
