When Richard Belzer visited Bethesda Row Saturday during the "Writers on the Row" festival, the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star made a comment about Bethesda that raised a few eyebrows in the local media.
“Here we are in Bethesda, Maryland,” Belzer said, according to the Washington Post's Reliable Source column. “What is Bethesda known for, beyond the hospital? Is that it?”
Belzer, who penned “Dead Wrong: Straight Facts on the Country’s Most Controversial Cover-Ups,” was among celebrities including Georgetown Cupcake's Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne and Bravo TV reality star Rosie Pope who made cameos during the four-day festival.
But the comment left the media musing, prompting the Baltimore Sun to headline its blog post, "Richard Belzer Unimpressed with Bethesda?"
"According to the Washington Post's Reliable Source column, Belzer didn't seem to be particularly swooning over the sights of Bethesda," The Sun wrote. "And he was at Bethesda Row, the supposedly hip part."
What do you think? Did Belzer burn Bethesda? How would you answer Belzer's question about what Bethesda is known for? Tell us in the comments.

Are we supposed to care what Richard Belzer thinks of Bethesda?

Hmm, "Richard Belzer"... What's he known for? (seriously I've never heard of him).

Perhaps it's because we're more excited about people who bake cupcakes than about him.

The problem IS we are more impressed with cupcakes! Talk about out of touch with the rest of America...

Wow, a single utterance offered here out of context from a comedian. Count on panties ending up in a twist. <yawn>

I am not impressed with Bethesda either. Its a place where wannabees and snobs hang out. Try to get your hair cut or your shoes fixed. Good luck.
