W Express: Cheap Gas, Now Without the Wait

The popular W Express gas station on River Road in Bethesda recently doubled the number of its gas pumps, making it easier to get relatively cheap gas in the area.

The W Express gas station at 5143 River Rd., Bethesda, generally has—by far—the cheapest gas in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area.

And, the station recently doubled the number of its pumps—from four to eight—making it easier to get (relatively) cheap gas. Four more pumps make a lot of difference when it comes to getting gas on the go.

According to MarylandGasPrices.com, W Express at 5143 River Rd. was selling regular unleaded gas for $3.71 a gallon as of 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Nearby, the Valero station (5151 River Rd.) was selling gas for $3.72 a gallon, and the Sunoco station (5201 River Rd.) was selling gas for $3.79 a gallon. Most other gas prices in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area were selling gas for $3.80 a gallon or more, according to MarylandGasPrices.com, as of 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.

Other changes are in the works for W Express. Inside the convenience store, construction is going on. The cashier on-duty when Patch stopped by said that a small kitchen is being added to offer a greater variety of foods.
