It's been an exciting year for Chevy Chase's restaurant scene. New restaurants opened up, and more are on the way. Here's a look back at some of the restaurant news in Chevy Chase this past year:

Range's Pizza Chef Is Well-Known in DC Kitchens: Eater DC reports that the restaurant's pizza chef is Edan MacQuaid, who has made pizzas at Local 16, Graffiato, Pizzeria Orso, Red Rocks, Ardeo + Bardeo, 2Amys and Pizzeria Paradiso (Dec. 18, 2012).

Meat Lovers, Mark Your Calendars: Range Opens Dec. 18: Celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio's new restaurant Range is sure to please meat lovers and vegetarians alike with its extensive menu and open kitchen (Dec. 4, 2012).

What an Offal Meal! Making Dishes from Organ Meats at Lia’s: Lia’s Restaurant offered a three-course menu of organ meats on a day Americans would be most likely to eat some scary cuisine—Halloween (Nov. 22, 2012).

Olympia Coffee Shop: New Owner, Same Menu: This popular Martin's Additions restaurant has a new owner, but not much else is slated to change (Oct. 31, 2012).

Voltaggio to Provide 'Small Plates' to Cigar Lounge: Civil Lounge in the Chevy Chase Pavilion will feature cigars and spirits, as well as small plates from the kitchen of Bryan Voltaggio's neighboring Range restaurant (Oct. 17, 2012).

Chevy Chase Cafe Terasol Gets Caucus Room Chef: This art gallery/bistro on Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, DC, has a new chef, and he's making over the menu (Oct. 16, 2012). 

Food Inspectors Find Debris in AMC Popcorn Machine: A routine food safety inspection at Mazza Gallerie's AMC Theatre revealed "unclean food-contact surfaces" (Aug. 31, 2012).

Rosa Mexicano Shows a Little Lemon Love: In August, Rosa Mexicano sold a special lemon dessert, the proceeds of which went toward Alex's Lemonade Stand (Aug. 14, 2012).

Cupcakes Bring out the Love—And the Funds: A fundraiser at Friendship Heights' popular cupcake shop, Frosting Bakeshop and Coffee Bar, raised $537.08 to help a little girl fight leukemia (Aug. 14, 2012).

Frosting's Feel-Good Cupcakes: Friendship Heights' popular cupcakery, Frosting Bakeshop and Coffee Bar, pulled out all the stops to create one-of-a-kind Ruby Red Velvet cupcakes—with special, handmade ladybug toppers—to sell to help support young Ruby Kahoun's fight against acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Aug. 8, 2012).

Delayed Opening for Voltaggio's Range Restaurant: The restaurant will open later than originally planned in the Chevy Chase Pavilion, Bethesda Magazine reported (Aug. 7, 2012).

New Restaurant Takes Over Former M Cafe Space: Mi Cocina is slated to open in the former M Cafe space in The Collection at Chevy Chase in March 2013 (Aug. 3, 2012).

Persimmon Restaurant Closes for Renovations Persimmon Restaurant is closed for a few months as it undergoes renovations, Bethesda Magazine reported (Aug. 1, 2012).
