Madeline is a rescue dog who has been living happily with Judy and Tom in Rockville, MD for four years. She got spooked and ran away from the dog walker on Dec 3 at the corner of Aster Blvd/Nelson St in Woodley Gardens Rockville, MD. She is a 5 year old, 45 lb red-brown-tan coonhound mix.
There have been sightings of her (or a dog who looks like her) in the Kensington/Garrett Park/Wheaton/Chevy Chase area. We will keep looking until we find her - she is part of our family and we miss her terribly.
If seen please call 301-728-2771. Please don't chase her because she will run; she is scared of people and is probably even more scared now. Instead, please call with location and the direction she was going in.
Because she is so scared, it most likely won't be possible for anyone to catch Madeline, even her parents. The best advice from all the experts is to establish a range where she is hanging around, then put out a humane trap with yummy food in it. Madeline used to sleep in a crate every night so is likely to see the humane trap as a friendly/safe place. That's why it's so important to call with sightings - so we can figure out the best place to put a humane trap.
Large $$$ reward for safe return!

So sorry that you have lost Madeline; hopefully she will be found & returned soon. People in my Kensington office are keeping a lookout for her as we go about our daily routine there and in the surrounding areas.

Update, 1/31/13: Maddie was seen this morning on Mitscher Street in Kensington, This is consistent with a recent sighting on Byrd Rd, and with sightings in early January/late December. If you live in this area, and are willing, please put food out for her. If we can get her to return to one area regularly for food, we should be able to catch her. Thank you!

In some neighborhoods and parks, our signs are being taken down, so we are having an intersection sign waving event tomorrow in Kensington. Please join us if you can, and if you can't join us, please share information about Madeline so we can extend and continue our search for Madeline.
