Storyteller Susanna Holstein is coming to Chevy Chase for an evening of storytelling at the Friendship Heights Village Center. Don’t miss this chance to meet and hear her stories. She is the “real thing.”
Susanna "Granny Sue" Holstein lives in Jackson County, West Virginia on a ridge she loves where she and her husband "homestead" their land. Her life on this mountain flavors her stories and takes listeners back to earlier self-reliant times.
Ranging from mountain tall tales to personal stories and tales from world cultures, Granny Sue's performances frequently include mountain ballads performed in the traditional unaccompanied style.
Holstein has all the chops of a seasoned professional. She is a frequent presenter at conferences, festivals, libraries, schools and other venues.
Holstein is a member of the West Virginia Storytelling Guild and other regional storytelling organizations. She is the West Virginia Liaison to the National Storytelling Network and 2nd Vice President of West Virginia Writers. Her award-winning poetry, nonfiction and fiction works have been published in anthologies, journals, and online, at her very popular blog.
