  Tania Hayek Mercer and Christine Fabrizio became fast friends after meeting at the Whole Foods in Friendship Heights. Mercer was leading the cooking class Fabrizio attended, and the two had a few things in common: Both were based in D.C. and had trained as health coaches at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and both believed in the power of raw food. It’s a busy day for Mark Leisher in the office of Mark Leisher Productions at Bethesda Green. The phone is ringing, emails are coming in and people are stopping by. Visit Brookside Gardens.  Brookside Gardens in Wheaton is a 50 acre public display garden and a 2011 Bethesda Magazine Green Champion.  Don’t miss their evening Garden of Lights from November 25 to January 8.  This year 70 percent of the Garden of Lights Show has been converted to LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights. Red Wiggler Community Farm is a non-profit farm in Germantown that provides employment for adults with developmental disabilities through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, provides educational opportunities to area youth, and practices organic farming and environmental stewardship. Ten Acres of Apples and a Dream to Produce Hard Cider Distillery Lane Ciderworks grows 39 varieties of apples for eating, baking and cider making on 10 acres of orchards within 90 minutes of Bethesda. Savenia Labs has officially launched their independent lab-tested energy rating system. The newly renamed Rock Creek Conservancy held an evening open house Tuesday at their new home at Bethesda Green. The Conservancy now shares office space with other green startups at the downtown headquarters as part of Bethesda Green’s incubator program. The Rock Creek Conservancy is a nonprofit group working to protect and restore Rock Creek and its waters, parks and lands. Rock Creek covers 1,700 acres and 33 miles of creek running through the Washington metropolitan area, and the Conservancy focuses on the creek and surrounding area in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Some of Bethesda's neighborhoods are a walker's paradise -- at least according to Walkscore.com. The site recently posted their list of ’10 Most Walkable Cities’ in the U.S. The site, which provides the walkability ratings of 2,500 U.S. cities, is a great source of information.
