Bingo in the Park - The Glen Echo Fire Department will be having their annual family-friendly fundraising Bingo and Silent Auction on Friday, Sept 7, starting at 7 pm at the Glen Echo Park Spanish Ballroom at 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo, MD. All ages are welcome, and there will be prizes appropriate for all age groups, including radio audience tickets, restaurant certificates, crafts, toys, and games. Free parking, no admission charge, but there is a suggested donation of $3 for bingo cards, and additional contributions are welcomed. There will be lots of prizes, some great silent auction items, a 50:50 raffle, and snacks for sale. The money raised will be for uniforms, equipment, supplies, and training materials for the Glen Echo Fire Department volunteer EMT's and firefighters so that they can better serve the community. Funds will also help fund Glen Echo’s ALS (advanced life support) equipment and supplies and the BERT (bicycle emergency response team). More About Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park
Inspired by Spanish mission architecture, the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park is equipped with 7,500 square feet of dance floor. This Mediterranean-style Art Deco building was restored in 1933 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition, the ballroom is utilized as a venue for wedding receptions, large corporate gatherings, bar/bat mitzvahs, private dance parties and other events. The Ballroom is available to rent year-round, but peak rental times are from April through June and September through October because because the venue is neither heated nor air conditioned.
