Suburban Hospital Honors Annual Mended Heart Award Winner

Suburban Hospital recently honored Violeta Pantangco, RN, of Alexandria, as recipient of the Mended Heart Award for Excellence in Cardiac Care.

BETHESDA, Md. (May 28, 2013) – Suburban Hospital recently honored Violeta Pantangco, RN, of Alexandria, as recipient of the Mended Heart Award for Excellence in Cardiac Care. Pantangco, clinical supervisor for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, has been a nurse at Suburban Hospital for almost six years.

Pantangco was selected because of the skill and compassion she uses daily to make valuable contributions to patient care at Suburban Hospital, said Chief Nurse Officer Barbara Jacobs, RN.

Neal Gregory, president of the local chapter of Mended Hearts, presented the award at the hospital’s annual Nurses Week recognition ceremony on May 8, 2013. Mended Hearts was founded in 1951 by Dwight E. Harken, MD, when he recruited three of the first ever heart surgery patients to provide support and help others facing similar cardiovascular experiences. Recognized for its role in facilitating a positive patient-care experience, Mended Hearts is now aligned with the American College of Cardiology.
