Suburban Hospital Re-Certified as Level II Trauma Center

Suburban Hospital has been re-certified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System for the next five years. The hospital is the only designated trauma center in Montgomery County and one of only four hospitals in Maryland with the designation.

“As an adult trauma center, Suburban Hospital also has the expertise needed to stabilize critically injured children prior to their transfer to a pediatric trauma center,” said Trauma Program Director Melissa Meyers. “Although we are not a Burn Center, we are also capable of providing emergency care to burn victims prior to their transport to a specialty burn unit.”

Serving Montgomery County and surrounding Frederick and Prince George’s counties, Suburban Hospital’s trauma center averages approximately 1,500 major trauma cases a year, including victims of motor vehicle crashes, falls, industrial accidents, or acts of violence.
