Potomac Sept Sales --the Final Weeks

As you stroll through your neighborhood and take a gander at the posted 'for sale' signs or 'open house' flyers, you might be wondering how the real estate market is doing in your community-- or you might be daydreaming about apple cider and fresh donuts...

Summer is now in the wind, and fall has brought fantastic weather and an increase in market activity. In the past 2 weeks, we've seen 15 more listings than the previous 2 weeks, but a decrease in the number of homes sold -- 10 less. This could mean several things, but my guess is that sellers are becoming more confident in the market as prices go up (for homes under $1 million), and realtors are doing a better job of convincing sellers not to wait. With interest rates rising, banks reworking loan qualifications, and not knowing what's to come in 2014, it's not a surprise more sellers are listing before winter strikes.
