Maryland Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Baltimore-Washington area, in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Areas impacted include Anne Arundel, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Prince George's, Montgomery and Washington counties as well as Baltimore City, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions exist making it possible that there will be a storm with large hail or damaging winds, the weather service reports. 

There is also a heat advisory in effect until 7 p.m., with temperatures anticipated to reach 105 degrees on the heat index.
