4701 Willard—Formerly 'The Irene'—Under Renovation

The building has not received many positive reviews on Yelp since new management took over and renovations began.

Renovation is well underway at the high-rise apartment building 4701 Willard Ave., Chevy Chase, formerly known as The Irene.

Equity Residential purchased the building from Irene Pollin (wife of Abe Pollin) in April 2012 for $209,325,000 (according to Maryland's real estate database), and started renovations soon after that.

The garage appears to be under construction, as evidenced by the valet parking signs in the front of the building and the noise coming from the garage.

Yelp reviews of the building since new management took over have not, on the whole, been positive, with reviewers complaining about jackhammering, parking inconvenience and more.
