2.) "TOUGH!" at The Writer's Center

Where/When: (4508 Walsh St., Chevy Chase); Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m.

Why Go: A raw comedy by George F. Walker—one of Canada’s foremost playwrights—"TOUGH!" is an honest and intimate look at the very adult consequences of very young love. Viciously smart, extremely funny, and pulling no punches—especially to the face—"TOUGH!" takes Flying V’s mission of fearless content to a new personal level.

Price: $10 at the door.

Why Go: Enjoy a performance by classical guitarist Carlos Barbosa-Lima, who hails from Brazil, and Hawaiian guitarist and ukulele virtuoso Byron Yasui.

Where/When: Race starts at (5811 Warwick Pl., Chevy Chase) on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m.

Why Go: For the 24th annual Somerset Elementary Back-to-School Classic, choose from an 8K run or a 2K walk. Proceeds help the Somerset Elementary School provide scholarships for after-school programs, build its library and offer students a rich cultural arts program. Brunch is provided to participants after the race, and there will be prizes.
