Jayna Murray 5K Run/Walk Set for Sunday

Murray was an avid runner and athletics enthusiast. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Jayna Murray Foundation, a group dedicated to promoting the activities that enriched Murray’s life.

The foundation plans on awarding scholarships to those interested in the same activities and programs Murray enjoyed, including study abroad, Semester at Sea and dance.

The race is set for 8 a.m. Sunday and will begin on Bethesda Lane, crossing the intersection of Arlington Road and Elm Street, according to the race website. A portion of Arlington Road near Bethesda Avenue will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Sunday for the race.

Online registration is $35 and closes at midnight Friday.

Packet pickup is planned for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Crossfit Bethesda at 7920 Norfolk Ave.

On Sunday, late registration will be available for $45 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at the race staging area.

Race T-shirts are only guaranteed for those who register in advance, so sign up early.
