Montgomery County Under Winter Storm Warning

Untreated roads and sidewalks may be icy, the National Weather Service reported.

Montgomery County is under a winter storm warning Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service, which issued the warning, said significant amounts of sleet and ice will impact travel.

The warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

"Travel will be dangerous during this time, including the Wednesday morning commute," the weather service stated in the storm warning.

Freezing rain and sleet are expected to begin after 11 p.m. Tuesday, changing to all freezing rain by Wednesday morning, according to the forecast.

Temperatures will stay below freezing until Wednesday morning, the weather service said, meaning the rain will freeze on the ground.

"Travel will likely be severely impacted," the weather service stated in the storm warning.

One-quarter inch of ice and one inch of sleet may accumulate, and untreated roads and sidewalks may become slippery, the weather service said.
