Bethesda Literary Festival Returns To Downtown

Events set for April 20 - 22.

For the 13th year in a row, the Bethesda Literary Festival is bringing renowned authors, journalists and poets to downtown Bethesda. The festival also features writing contests and events for kids and teens.

The best part? It’s all free!

Organized by the B this year’s festival will take place at locations throughout the downtown from Friday, April 20, through Sunday, April 22. Highlights include:

  • Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Thomas Friedman, co-author ofThat Used to be Us”
  • Biographers Walter Isaacson, author of “Steve Jobs,” and Sally Bedell Smith, author of “Elizabeth the Queen”
  • Sirius XM Radio host Bob Edwards (formerly of NPR), author of “A Voice in the Box: My Life in Radio”
  • Marvin and Deborah Kalb, co-authors of “Haunting Legacy: Vietnam and the American Presidency from Ford to Obama”
  • Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Joby Warrick, author of “The Triple Agent: The Al-Qaeda Mole who Infiltrated the CIA”
  • Writers Judith Viorst, author ofAlexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” and R.L. Stine, author of the “Goosebumps” series
  • Stanley Plumly, Maryland Poet Laureate
  • Reading and awards ceremonies for the Essay and Short Story Contest, the Youth Writing Contest and the Bethesda Poetry Contest
