'Cinderella,' Pontoon Boat Tours, Art and More Near Bethesda, Chevy Chase This Weekend

Fathom Sculptural Exploration of another World

  • Where: Waverly Street Gallery, 4600 East-West Highway, Bethesda.
  • When: May 7 through June 8, Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. 
  • Description: The organic visions of glass artist Alison Sigethy and clay artist Liz Lescault speak to each other. Collaborating for the first time, Sigethy and Lescault create enigmatic yet seductive life forms.

Pontoon Boat Tours at Seneca Creek State Park

  • Where: Seneca Creek State Park, 11950 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg.
  • When: Saturday, May 25, 1 p.m.
  • Description: Visitors are invited to join a park ranger for a guided exploration of Clopper Lake aboard the pontoon boat "Blue Heron."  Learn about the birds, fish and mammals that call the lake home.
  • Cost: $5.

Free Remodeling and Design Seminars: How to Fall in Love with Your Home Again

  • Description: Visitors are invited to sit down with experts at Hopkins and Porter and get questions answered. A complimentary lunch will be served during which visitors may have one-on-one conversations with designers.

Big Book Sale

  • Where: Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave., Rockville.
  • When: Saturday, May 25, 10 a.m.
  • Description: The Rockville Friends of the Library (FOL) will hold a big book and media sale at the library (Town Square) on May 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Cost: Free.

Flower Avenue Outdoor Market

  • Where: 8809 Flower Ave., Silver Spring.
  • When: Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m.
  • Description: Flower Avenue Holiday Market will run every Saturday through the end of the year and may soon be open on Sundays as well.
  • Cost: Free.

Homefront Street Cars

  • Where: National Capital Trolley Museum, 1313 Bonifant Rd., Colesville.
  • When: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 25, 26 and 27. 
  • Description: Homefront Street Cars recalls the impact of World War II on the men and women of the Capital Transit Company who supported the efforts of the armed forces with their labor. 
  • Cost: $7.

Big Nate: A World Premiere Musical

  • Where: 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo.
  • When: Saturday, May 18, 11 a.m.
  • Description: Musical based on the comic strip and books by Lincoln Peirce.
  • Cost: $19.
