Chris Vadala Jazz Quintet Concert
Whether on stage, in the recording studio, or addressing an aspiring student, legendary saxophonist Chris Vadala enjoys equal renown. He can be heard in recordings of jazz giants Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Doc Severinson, and his appearances with the Grammy Award winning Chuck Mangione Quintet have been viewed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America. Now Director of Jazz Studies and Professor of Saxophone at the University of Maryland, Vadala has conducted over four dozen All State jazz ensembles.
Chris Vadala will be joined by guitarist, Rick Whitehead, bassist, John Previti, and drummer, Barry Hart, to perform selections from his CD, Out of the Shadows, as well as
standards by Duke Ellington and Wayne Shorter. Cindy Curilla will join the group to sing Irving Berlin’s Cheek to Cheek and Johnny Mercer’s I Remember You. Admission is free.
