Julian Bond Presentation: "Crossing the Color Line: From Rhythm 'n Blues to Rock 'n Roll," April 7th
Julian Bond will present "Crossing the Color Line: From Rhythm 'n Blues to Rock 'n Roll," on Saturday April 7 from 6pm to 8:30 pm at River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, RRUUC, in Bethesda, Md. Bond's multi-media presentation will examine the birth of rock and roll and the effects of race, demographics, war, immigration, and technology on American music. Admission is $25 for adults, $10 for students, and includes admission to a dessert, wine, and soft drink reception from 6pm to 7pm. Bond's presentation starts at 7pm. Proceeds go to support the College Access (minority) Scholarships that RRUUC sponsors.
Bond is a founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and is a former Chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He is a professor at both American University in DC and at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
