Monologue Fest

Unexpected Stage Company—the local professional theater company that earned raves for last season’s area premiere of “Candy and Dorothy”—will host the Monologue Fest from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012. Ten actors will compete for a $100 prize in this not-to-be missed evening of comedy, drama and Guinness at Rí Rá Irish Pub, 4931 Elm Street, Bethesda, Md. A $10 suggested admission will benefit Unexpected Stage Company’s third summer season. For information, call 301-337-8290 or visit www.unexpectedstage.org.

Monologue Fest judges include Julianne Brienza, executive director of the Capital Fringe Festival; Erin Driscoll, Helen Hayes Award-winning actress; Joshua Morgan, co-artistic director of award-winning No Rules Theatre Company; and Brad Watkins, director of theater services for theatreWashington. These four Washington, D.C. theater stars will have their say, but the audience makes the final call on the Monologue Fest winner!

In addition to being a fun, uniquely entertaining evening, Monologue Fest is intended as a fundraiser for Unexpected Stage Company’s must-see summer season. Beyond the $10 suggested admission, individuals can support this fast-rising regional theater company by dining at Rí Rá Irish Pub for lunch or dinner on March 26. Unexpected Stage Company will receive 10% of food sales that day if the customer provides a Monologue Fest Flier printed from their website, www.unexpectedstage.org, with their meal.
