  • When: Saturday, July 13, 4 p.m.
  • Description: All-day Blues Jam, hosted by DJ Dr. S.O. Feelgood. Admission includes a fish sandwich, served from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Bring a potluck dish and get a copy of the D.C. Blues Society cookbook Blues in My Kitchen. Other food will be available for purchase.

Global Ministries Fashion Show

  • When: Good Hope Union United Methodist Church, 14680 Good Hope Rd., Silver Spring.
  • Description: The Global Missions Ministries of Good Hope Union United Methodist Church will be hosting a fashion show benefit to support the Christian Mission Fellowship Project. The following designers will be attending: Leonche, Philomena and Zagodi Fashion. All clothing shown will have been inspired by native African traditional pieces. 
  • Cost: The Global Missions Ministry will be accepting donations of $25. All proceeds will go the Christian Mission Fellowship Project in Africa. 

A PRJC Bastille Day celebration with Ben Mauger and his Vintage Jazz Band

  • Where: Rosensteel Knights of Columbus of Silver Spring, 9707 Rosensteel Ave., Silver Spring
  • When: Sunday, July 14, 2 p.m.
  • Description: Music lovers are invited to join the PRJC for a special Bastille Day jazz concert with Ben Mauger and his Vintage Jazz Band (from Pennsylvania).

Wine and Painting Benefit for McPaw

  • Where: Huckleberry Fine Arts, 12051 Nebel St., Rockville.
  • When: Friday, July 12, 7:30 p.m.
  • Description: A night of painting, wine and fun to benefit McPaw, the Montgomery County Partners for Animal Well-Being and Montgomery County’s new Animal Services and Adoption Center.

Lake Life Habitat Hike

  • Where: Seneca Creek State Park
  • When: Friday, July 12, 7 p.m.
  • Description: Hikers are invited to join a park naturalist for a relaxing one-hour exploration of our Lake Shore Trail. Learn about the birds, fish, reptiles and mammals that call Clopper Lake home.
  • Cost: Free.

Junior Detective Day

  • Where: Kentlands Mansion, 320 Kent Square Rd., Gaithersburg.
  • When: Sunday, July 14, 1 p.m.
  • Description: An afternoon of crime solving, K-9 demonstrations, police vehicles, safety information and Junior Detective swearing-in. Appropriate for ages 5 to 13.
  • Cost: $10.

Aroma Exotics Car Meet

  • Where: 7101 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda.
  • When: Saturday, July 13, 7 a.m.
  • Description: An informal gathering of car enthusiasts. Large crowd of domestics, imports, hot rods and classic cars are expected. Guests are welcome to take advantage of the new outdoor seating and an extensive coffee and breakfast menu at Aroma Espresso Bar.
  • Cost: Free.

Dance with Champions

  • Where: 8227 Woodmont Ave., Suite 2A, Bethesda.
  • When: Sunday, July 14, 12 p.m.
  • Description: David Valenzuela and Corina Pirvuica, international professional ballroom and Latin champions, are visiting Dance Bethesda after a successful five-night "Dance Spectacular" at Niagara Falls.
  • Cost: All day pass is $60, or $15 per workshop.
